| An introduction to keeping and selling reptiles |
Basic. Aimed at people with little or no reptile
knowledge this course is designed to equip shop owners and staff with
basic knowledge to enable them to identify the needs of customers and
provide effective solutions. |
This course is a foundation course to introduce the
concept of keeping reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. It
covers basic principles such as UV light, thermoregulation, heating,
foods, caging and substrates, as well as looking at the commonly kept
species.

| Keeping and selling reptiles: part 2 |
Intermediate. This course assumes some basic knowledge
and will equip delegates with a more advanced understanding of key
principles as well as introducing concepts involved with successful
retailing. |
This course is designed to follow on from the
"Introduction to keeping and selling reptiles" course above. It
builds on the principles and explores some key ones in greater depth as
well as introducing new topics such as "retailing reptiles". Led
by industry leaders it will provide delegates with the confidence to
advance the sales from their stores.

The cost of this course is still being calculated. It is
likely to be £225 + VAT per person, subject to a minimum of 10 delegates
with discounts for group bookings. This will include course
material, lunches and all refreshments but not overnight accommodation
if required. We do have a special rate at a local hotel of £65 per
night for B&B which delegates can take advantage of. |

| An introduction to the commonly kept reptiles |
Basic. Aimed at people with little or no reptile
knowledge this course will introduce the basics of keeping the "common
5" reptiles. |
Delegates on this course will be introduced to the
commonly kept reptile species. Bearded Dragons, Corn Snakes (and
similar), Leopard Geckos, Mediterranean Tortoises and Crested Geckos.
Topics covered will include husbandry, natural history, handling,
sexing, feeding and breeding. There will also be some practical
sessions to practice setting up tanks and vivariums.
